Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

This presentation will explore psychology and how it has an impact on college football. Using basic analytics, we will look at quantifying the effects of several psychological components that impact college football teams. Additionally, we will dive into how psychology contributes to the shocking upsets that we see every year in college football. Please note that this session will not go into complex psychological issues or include highly technical statistical concepts, but rather be focused on insights gained from taking basic principles of psychology and combining them with analytical methods.

Some of the principles discussed will include momentum, complacency, and familiarity. Finally, we will look into applying the insights gained from this exploration to sports outside of college football and start addressing why we see or do not see these impacts appearing in other sports. Whether you are a fan, an analyst, or a team executive, I hope you will enjoy this presentation and leave this session with a broader knowledge about how psychology may be having an impact on your team.
